Is there an external harddrive that can connect directly to tv to watch movies?

Hi. Does anyone know if my above question is possible? I have some movies in mp4 or avi format saved in my pc. I'm trying to find an external drive where I can save them into and then be able to watch directly on TV wthout having to convert to dvd format. Is this possible? Thanks
