Does anybody know where I can find a program for my tv tuner card?

Alright well I bought a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150 274 on newegg and the cd it came with is horrible so I have no software to use it in. I am using a media center pc so I can watch tv by using the media center program, but I am trying to get the 3 video connectors working (red, white, yellow) because I dont know with what program I can use it with. I used the one that came on the cd but image quality is horrible. I am just using media center program to watch tv, but I need the 3 video connectors to work also. Does anybody know where I can find a program for this?

Try looking on the manufacturer's website, when I bought my TV tuner from KWORLD, the software was terrible, but when I went on their website, there was a much newer version which was OK.

I have a philips big screen, rear projection tv. what would it take to connect it to a pc as a monit

s video cable

hdmi cable-maybe

or you could get a video processor that takes an input from your computer and outputs to a tv cable (one of the three-red, white, yellow)

but your best bet is probably an s video cable to your dvd player and then out to your tv.

Why do DVD's look ten times better on my TV then they do on my computer monitor?

Granted, I'm sitting 10 feet away from my TV and not my PC, but even when I'm watching from the same distance there is an obvious distinction. What surprises me is that the clarity is bad even when playing it at it's original resolution. I've tried several different media players, including WMP, VideoLan, and powerDVD, but it all looks the same.

Why do DVD's look ten times better on my TV then they do on my computer monitor?nba spurs

It probably looks better to you for a few reasons.

1. Viewing distance - If you compare any two different sized TVs side by side with the same exact picture, the smaller one will appear to look sharper. This is because all TVs operate on the same principles of scanning. They all scan horizontally at 15.75KHz and vertically at 60Hz. If you think about it, on the larger TV, a given area scanned is larger, but takes the same amount of time as the smaller one. So the scanned lines are larger on the bigger screen, and won't look too nice if you're too close. You can see that on any tv, if you get up close to it.

2. CRT quality - this can be another reason why the TV looks better; the PC monitor is capable of a far more detailed image. If you set your PC resolution to 640 x 480, it would still be running at twice the horizontal scanning frequency of a TV. So the PC monitor may be simply displaying the imperfections in the video signal from the DVD player. Keep in mind that the signal DVD players provide are designed to be output to TVs, not to PC monitors.

3. PC video memory - this is quite likely your problem. The video card in your computer has to scale or upconvert the video so it can be displayed on the PC monitor. If you don't have enough video memory, it will seem like it's jerking or pausing all the time. You'll have to shrink the video window down, until it looks ok to you.

you probably dont have a good graohics card

but it could be a few things

the monitor may not be the greatest

maybe you dont have enough RAM for it to play well

could be your resolution settings on your pc

are you using the latest media player of which ever one youre using
TV's have a higher resolution screen compared to Computer Monitors. (which means that the TV has more pixels to complete the picture and makes it less fuzzy to the eye)
Two words MEGA-Pixels..

TV = Many

PC = Not many
TVs and DVD players are specifically designed to handle video output, unlike PCs. PCs are usually designed with a task-oriented structure. To make it into a video powerhouse, you must make some modifications.

The video quality of your PC depends on the following: your video card, refresh rate settings, and your monitor. NVidia and ATI are your best bet for superb clarity. If possible, look for a card with GPU. GPU is designed to offset the strain that video graphics put on the PC. Also, the higher the RAM on the card, the better the performance.

You can change the refresh rate on your monitor. And speaking of monitors, look for the lowest pixels per inch. usually .26 or .25 is good, but if you can find lower than that, it would be great.

I would suggest going to your nearest computer store and checking the specs on the cards, and the monitors. They may have some good ideas for a package.
You don't have a powerful enough video card
Because a standard monitor only shows a resolution of 72 dpi. You can set it for more, but that is all the monitor can show. It鈥檚 the same with photoshop 鈥?I can tell it to have a resolution of 400 dpi, but that will only show up in the higher quality print-out, not on the monitor. Your television can show more dpi, so the resolution looks better. There are some new monitors out there that also have better resolution (although nothing like high definition), so you could invest on one of those if it matters so much to you.

A recent advertisement on TV claimed MAC computers were less vunerable to viruses than PC computers,

Why would a MAC computer be less likely to be infected with a virus than a PC computer??

A recent advertisement on TV claimed MAC computers were less vunerable to viruses than PC computers, WHY??nba teams

Windows is more susceptible because it has so many security defects. There are viruses for the Mac, but since so few people use Macs (relatively speaking), mosst virus authors go after Windows. A bigger target.

There are also several technical reasons, but the easiest answer is "Windows is full of holes."

A recent advertisement on TV claimed MAC computers were less vunerable to viruses than PC computers, WHY??nba playoff bracket ,nba teams

viruses ar programs ...u can stop a program with another program hardware components have nothing to do with viruses ;)

if MAC computers come with a preinstal AntiVirus ...well ...yes ...MAC is beter ;)
It is very simple all pc windows based systems work on a language named c, c+ and c++ also visual basic

it is very easy to penatrate these writing codes.

As for mac os it is built differently so the common viruses

do not upload to a common mac computer. Keep in mind that with this most programs, paripherials need a special driver for mac os(operating system) that means your printer and other gadgets.
In my opinion pc's are more vulnerable to viruses etc. because there are millions upon millions of pc owners/users.

And off course by far most of the pc's are windows based.Because of this there are many more people that will create viruses that are windows based.

Perhaps MAC is a less vulnerable system than windows. But MAC has a whole less users/owners than windows. So a whole less people will create a virus that is specific for mac.
because the MAC architecture is not as open to attack as the PC format is...PC's have many back doors to enter in if you're a hacker, MACs have far fewer as their architecture is not nearly as open to other programmers.

You need a DVD ripper.

You can try aimersoft dvd ripper, it can help you rip your dvds into common video formats (WMV, AVI, MPEG, Mp4, etc) easily, and you can also rip the dvds by setting the starting time and ending time, so that you needn't to rip the whole DVD.

In order for the DVD to work in a computer or a standalone player you have to 'finalise' the DVD while still in your camera - your instruction manual should explain how to do that then if you want to do some editing try it this way

Use a programme such as Ulead VideoStudio - you take the mini-disc out of your camcorder and put it into the DVD tray of your PC making sure it sits centrally in the little depression made for it. You may have to 'finalise' the mini DVD your camera manual will tell you how to do that.

Inside VideoStudio you select "Insert DVD" and point the programme at the DVD and follow the prompts and the video is copied from the disc into the timeline of VideoStudio so that you can edit it - add lots of different videos together - add titles/music/narration - and finally burn to a full size DVD to play in a standard player.

Can the Xbox 360 record tv shows like DVR?

Well, i'm goiong to get an Xbox 360 and i want to fully understand the functions of the media center with Windows Vista. I went to their website, but i still don't understand if you watch tv shows that are recorded from the PC or from the Xbox? So if it's watching from the Xbox, will it record a show like a DVR with setting a time and program. i think i saw that in a video on the xbox 360 website but i'm still not sure.

Can the Xbox 360 record tv shows like DVR?nba 08

Hello;

Depending on the version of Vista and the hardware on your PC, you will be able to record TV shows on to the hard drive of your PC. From there, if you have your 360 networked, you will be able to stream the recorded shows from your PC to your 360. You can stream almost any media from your PC to your 360 (videos, music etc).

All of the above being said, the 360 does not work as a PVR/DVR. You cannot record TV shows to your 360鈥檚 hard drive and stream them back to your PC, nor can you stream live TV from the 360 to your PC.

You can however, stream live TV from your PC to your 360.

Hope this helps!

Desparate for help with Vista and my TV?

Since ATI and Powercolor are completely useless, I'm hoping someone here can help. I have a home theatre PC running Vista Home Premium 64 bit. The graffics card is a Powercolor x1600 pro with outputs for HDMI and VGA. My TV is a Maxent 50" plasma. The tv works with PC's and supports 720x480, 1280x720 and 1920x1080i. I can get a monitor to work fine with the VGA output but the HDMI does absolutely nothing. Not even at startup. (the tv accepts HDMI, RGB, Component and RS-232) Windows will not recognize the tv by itself or as a second monitor. I really need the HDMI to work and am getting desparate. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The only direction I can point you in is...

Go into your settings on your video card and make sure you've told it to use the HDMI port instead of the VGA. Often times, you have to tell it which output you wish to use.

Same goes for the tv. You have to tell it which input you're wanting to use.

Hope this helps.

If i connect my PC to my HDTV with a DVI to HDMI lead will i be watching HD?

A lot of people say you can only watch HD from blu ray disks, surely HD can be stored in other ways, even on a normal DVD? I have some HD movies on my PC harddrive so if i put a DVI lead from my PC into the HDMI port on the TV will i be watching HD?

If i connect my PC to my HDTV with a DVI to HDMI lead will i be watching HD?nba video

it depends on how you define HD first

true or full HD is 10 bit @ 1920 x 1080 @ 29.97fps

1080p that is 1080 horizontal lines many TV's claiming HDTV are only 1080i or 740p

1080i means it is interlaced so even though there are 1080 lines the TV only draws 540 then switches to the other 540

So if your TV is actually real HD the next problem is what is feeding your TV

normal DVD as produced by studio's are encoded as MPEG-2 (which also has 2 standards PAL %26amp; NTSC)

PAL is 567 lines and NTSC is 480 lines so no studio DVD is HD

yes you can increase this resolution on a DVD, but the DVD format (MPEG-2) is compressed so can not really ever be true HD

True HD is 10 bit @ 1920 x 1080 @ 29.97fps uncompressed

= 158 MB per/sec,

with a DVD dual layer storing 8.5GB thats only 55 sec of uncompressed HD you can store on a dvd so no DVD can really store HD movie

You can store much more on a PC so if your PC can read at least 200MB/sec and render 1080p to the DVI port yes you will see true HD on your screen

All this hype about HD and Plasma Vs LCD is kind of stupid. AS both technologies physically make a single pixel the manufacturing process is nearing it's limit, very soon new panels will be emerging where we go back to a form of CRT called SED, then plasma, LCD and 1080p will be forgotten.

In a CRT each pixel is made of an electron beam the pixels can be much smaller, giving better resolution. The original problem of maximum size of the screen and CRT depth has been solved by using an array of electron guns 1 for each sub pixel. So soon there will be a whole new generation of screens with much higher resolutions.

If i connect my PC to my HDTV with a DVI to HDMI lead will i be watching HD?pro basketball ,nba teams

If a lot of people say that then a lot of people are falling for Sony's hype (surprise surprise).

If you have a video file on your PC that fits the HD resolution specification (720 rows of data) then it is HD. HDTV really only corresponds to TV sets and information to broadcast to them - PCs have been capable of more than HDTV definitions for about a decade!

However, a normal DVD does not contain HD data, although its not far off. Whatever you watch on your HDTV will display at its native reolution. So to answer your last question - If you have HD movies on your hard drive, and watch them on your HDTV, providing its set up right, they will display in HD. They would anyway if you watch them on yourn PC monitor.
Ashypoo is correct, so I won't go into detail.....Your "recorded shows" will display in the resolution it was recorded in.....NO TV OR COMPUTER can enhance a Low Definition recording into a Hi Definition signal.....it will %26gt;%26gt;Display%26lt;%26lt; it at the resolution it was recorded in.......

Now that DVI to HDMI cable....believe it or not HDMI is actually DVI signal...no changes to the Video at all......

But DVI did not INCLUDE the audio portion of the signal....you needed a separate RCA cable for sound....HDMI is both Video and Audio....

So I hope the DVI end of your cable has a couple extra RCA audio connections attached to it, so the HDMI end has both Video and Audio going into it......
What the hell?? You're giving me a head ache.

The audio from the ps2 comes through the red and white scart cables and I have an adapter wherby the two cables go into one end of the adapter and the other end is a male headphone connector. Is there some way to plug this into my pc and route the sound out through my headphones that I can also plug in? Basically I am trying to find a way of listening to my ps2 through headphones - my tv hasnt got a headphone socket or any other socket - just a scart socket.

Is it possible to listen to playstation 2 audio through headphones connected to pc?nba fights

The standard PS2 has three RCA outputs, red, white and yellow. They plug into an adapter so you can plug them in to a scart socket.

The yellow one transmits video, and the other two are the left and right audio channels.

You can adapters from RCA to jack sockets. What you want is one that converts two RCA leads to a female stereo jack, which you can plug the headphones straight into.

If you want to listen to stuff on the computer at the same time, then you'll want to have a male jack instead of female.

Then, you'd plug that into the microphone/input jack socket on the back (or front) of your computer, and then monitor this sound in your computer (open up an audio program that takes input and there should be someway of listening to that input as it happens - this is usually called monitoring).

Plug the headphones to the computer, and voila, there's both the computer and the PS2 through the computer headphones.

You need a suitable graphics card installed in your machine which has a TV out socket, these are usually scart or composite connections. Without this you haven't a hope of connecting them but even with them very few TVs act as good monitors as their resolution is based around TV reception. Most modern graphics cards will do dual display so I would suggest that so if you want to watch video on your screen you can but do the ordinary computer stuff on a monitor.

PS most decent graphics cards do come with the right cables but you will probably need a scart adapter for your TV.

If your video card has 2 outputs then yes you can. USB is no use in this case. check the back of your PC and check your video card specifications to see if it's possible. Good luck!
Some graphics cards can take video from the TV. I also think that I've seen a USB device that will allow you to link a video player and suff like that.
You need a graphic card that has a s-video output. Try Radeon. Your TV need a S-video in or a scart that supports s-video input.
you need to have graphic adapter that can send signals ( if there is a free round input conector then you are ready ) you can do that with scart but better way is direcly from adapter.
